Services and Cookies Used

Cloudflare CDN

Category: Necessary (technically required)

Purpose: Content Delivery Network for fast loading of external JavaScript libraries.

Provider: Cloudflare

Cookies:

  • __cfduid (5 years) – The ‘__cfduid’ cookie is set by the Cloudflare service to identify trusted web traffic. It does not correspond to any user ID in the web application, nor does the cookie store any personally identifiable information.
  • __cfruid (session) – Used by the content delivery network Cloudflare to identify trusted web traffic.
  • __cf_bm (session) – Cloudflare’s bot management products identify and mitigate automated traffic in order to protect websites from malicious bots. Cloudflare places the __cf_bm cookie on end-user devices that access customer websites protected by Bot Management or Bot Fight Mode. The __cf_bm cookie is required for these bot protection solutions to function properly.
  • cf_chl_2 (session) – Used by Cloudflare to execute JavaScript or CAPTCHA challenges. These cookies are not used for tracking or beyond the scope of the challenge.
  • __cflb (session) – When session affinity is enabled with Cloudflare Load Balancer, Cloudflare sets a __cflb cookie with a unique value in the first response to the requesting client. Cloudflare routes future requests to the same origin, optimizing the use of network resources. In the event of a failover, Cloudflare sets a new __cflb cookie to direct future requests to the failover pool.
  • _cfuvid (session) – The _cfuvid cookie is only set when a website uses this option in a Rate Limiting Rule and is used solely to allow the Cloudflare WAF to distinguish individual users who share the same IP address.
  • cf_clearance (session) – Indicates whether a CAPTCHA or JavaScript challenge has been successfully completed.
  • __cfseq (session) – Sequence Rules use cookies to track the order of requests made by a user and the time between requests, making this information available to Cloudflare Rules. This allows rules to be created that match valid or invalid request sequences. The specific cookies used to validate these sequences are referred to as sequence cookies.
